View Full Version : Head Count - Who will be playing?
I'm on the fence for this one. I would love to play IF Sunder will be there. If no Sunder, no Path.
Pre-orders are up so I was curious if we have any members that have committed or are planning on playing.

Definately gonna try, but Customization can only hold me for so long. My not having a job/ criticalness towards games/ easily bored nature might get in the way of extended play.
That stuff and Mass Effect 2. Omg.

Hey poopy, Sunder will be there to give it a run. However unsure of how many will be giving it a go. I'm going to pre-order the game this week as well so
Penei is currently playing the beta.

Ok Droopy, I'll pre-order as well since it appears we have a few takers.
Has anyone figured out the best pre-order deal? There seems to be a bit of a fuss over some of the offers...want this and that, get that and this...

I did a little research. Here are all the official offers from the approved pre-order places
All customers who pre-order Star Trek Online receive access to the Open Beta and Early Start Program. Details on exclusive pre-order content for Star Trek Online include:
GameStop
GameStop customers receive the ability to command the exclusive and always classic USS Enterprise from Star Trek The Original Series. Sounds like this is a cool nice to have that helps you for about 20 hours of gameplay before you are promoted to a better ship.
Best Buy
Best Buy is offering their customers a fun in-game pet. As a Federation Captain, players own a famed Tribble of Star Trek lore that will accompany them on their travels into the final frontier. As a Klingon commander, players control the boar-like Targ, a beast found on the Klingon home world of Qo’noS. Sounds like a cute pet that won't help out much.
Amazon
Amazon is offering an exclusive “Liberated Borg” Bridge Officer. This bridge officer, who comes with unique nanotechnology augmentations, assists in missions and gains experience as the player does. This Pet Sounds like it will definitely help short and long term.
Wal-Mart
With the Wal-Mart Bonus Skill Points package, receive addition skill points that enable players to improve their characters quickly. This will be 500 skill points that other players won't have (about a 38% boost). I am unclear if this just helps out initially or long term.
Target
Target customers who pre-order Star Trek Online receive a unique ground weapon – a TR-116. This rare projectile weapon is used in dampening fields and other challenging environments; it is also modified with a micro-transporter which beams the fired projectiles to targets at close range so that a user can fire without a direct line of site. This one sounds pretty cool... I mean it can shoot through walls... that has to be useful sometime!!!
Direct2Drive
Direct2Drive customers receive an exclusive Multi-Spatial Personal Shield. This advanced personal shield system is based on Borg technology, which constantly regenerates itself and the health of its wearer. This one also definitely sounds very useful.
STEAM
STEAM is offering customers Chromodynamic Armor. This armor is based on technology brought back from the Delta Quadrant by U.S.S. Voyager improves the damage and critical hits of energy weapons. Sounds like a classic Light Side Jedi vs. Dark Side Jedi Debate (More Defense, or More Offense).
In addition their are 3 versions. The Standard Edition ($49), the Digital Deluxe Edition ($59) and the Collector's Edition ($79). The Digital Deluxe Edition gives you the ability to be a Joined Trill and the Automated Defense Battery for your Ship. The Collectors Edition gives you the Red Matter Capacitor which might be worth something. Other than that most of the stuff seems like it is good for collectors or is in game fluff (the ability to say "Kahplah" doesn't exactly sound like an enhancement to me... but what do I know?)
Hope this helps!
Umm..Wal-Mart and 500 skill points sounds interesting. Pen...come tell us what to order!

Very Cool, and useful.
Get special abilities that Only Borgs can have.
And on Away Missions you have a badass little warrior.
Think of these more as Companions from Guild Wars.
With a "Pet" in most games, when you die, it's all over.
With the B.O. if you get downed, you wait til you all wipe or the B.O.s rape the enemy and rez you.
Wal-Mart
With the Wal-Mart Bonus Skill Points package, receive addition skill points that enable players to improve their characters quickly. This will be 500 skill points that other players won't have (about a 38% boost).
This is another good one, but not sure if this is a super advantage in the long run either.
It might be.

This is a Meh.
It's shiny.
But in a Few lvls who's going to be miffed?
Not the Dude with the priceless Borg officer that lvls with him.
Probably the guy with the $0.10 gun.
Direct2Drive
Direct2Drive customers receive an exclusive Multi-Spatial Personal Shield. This advanced personal shield system is based on Borg technology, which constantly regenerates itself and the health of its wearer.
Another one I am kinda meh about.
This is cool for the ground combat, but the game is VERY much Space Combat.
Not sure about the stats, or how long it'll be useful to you.
Cryptic use your Vague Powers!!!
STEAM
STEAM is offering customers Chromodynamic Armor. This armor is based on technology brought back from the Delta Quadrant by U.S.S. Voyager improves the damage and critical hits of energy weapons.
Once again, never put all your nuts in "Half" the game.

I'm going with Amazon.
So...for the Amazon people, the FilePlanet download didn't work for me. I used the "slow" link listed on the download option page from STO. I let it run overnight. Not sure how long it took but it was done when I woke.
Anyone up for a meet Wed night? Say around 9pm Eastern?
I think I am Path@Ehope...something like that. Still on the tutorial.
Could do Thursday if ya'll want another day to get installed.

Done by this weekend? I can't even get past the registering for my crypitic account. It says something about the server being down so I hope that is temporary. So far from the glowing reviews starting to question racing in at all!
