I think it was a good idea, but it was executed poorly.
It's almost impossible to have fun in a scenario like this, the Empire is pretty much just feeding off these guys and it needs to have a sort of auto balance done to it.
Like a game mechanic that always calculates the amount of players in a PvP match and gives the gimped side a bonus to their players equal to the challenge they would have.
Like a super buff for individual characters.
Something that turns them into Raid boss like characters or something that actually makes them want to play.
I dunno, it's really difficult to fix something like this.
Only other thing I can think of is un-revamping the PvP on Ilum.
I mean, there's no way to make people play Republic with their crap economy, low amount of PvPers, desolate Hub station, etc.
This kinda frustrates me.
Maybe Bioware should do some updates to the Republic and make them look bright and shiny and kinda leave us alone.
I would be down for a revamp of the Republic in the public's eyes.
Maybe offer a sort of XP bonus, some new items, some crap like that.

have to remember this game in all intent and purpose is a PVE game first and the pvp aspect is just a filler to keep people happy
it will no doubt take the stance that of wow and most likely make the same choices and errors that did because pvp will dictate the buffs and nerfs classes get something that might be helpful in the pvp world might be a hinderance in the pve world and so on
if this game had been in the style of dark age of camelot and say warhammer it would make more sence to be worried about pvp because that would be the end game but unfautunately it isnt
i hope they do help pvp but they need to scrap expertise broken wow shite
so what if people who pve get decent gear they have earned it doesnt mean they will wipe the floor with people who dont its not like it is hard now for people just hitting 50 getting owned by the people who have full sets of pvp armor getting the 10 to 15% bonus damage
It should still give armor for pvp that takes the same ammount of time to get as it would pve'ing but at least as you hit 50 and say craft or make oranges to suit your look viable and not be at a disadvantage only difference would be stats which pvp armor would give better benifits for
i dunno thats just my view may need revision or critisism but hey lets debate everything
